Permafrost – where are you?

As part of the climate monitering conducted at the Arctic Station, the development in he permafrost is also studied. The monitering of permafrost is done by sticking a measureing stick into the ground until it reaches the permafrost which tells us how deep in the ground the permafrost lies. In order to do this Ruth, Adam and Outi picked a beautiful autumn day and walked to the field site in the Valley of Wind.

This years measurement show that the average depth where premafrost starts is 68 cm.
